Amanda York, the daughter of Henry and Jennie Pittsenbarger, one of nine children, was born April 7, 1858 in Darke County, Ohio, and departed this life at her home in east 16th st., Muncie, Indiana, Friday, December 30th at 4:40 a.m., age at the time of her going away 74 years, 8 months and 23 days.
She was united in marriage to William York, April 22, 1873 in Darke County, Ohio, and to this union 8 children were born, five of which have preceded her in death.
She leaves to mourn her going away her husband and companion, Mr. York, with whom she has shared life's joys and sorrows for almost 60 years. Two sons, Perry York of Cambridge City, Indiana, and Harrison York of Muncie, one daughter Mrs. Pearl Wright also of Muncie; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; one sister Mrs. Frances Burns of Muncie and a host of relatives and friends.
Almost half a century ago she made the good confession of her faith in Christ at the waters edge and was baptized and became a member of the Church of Christ at Yorkshire, Ohio, and maintained her faith in Christ to the end. Jesus said "He that is faithful unto death shall receive a crown of life."
One of the major joys of her life came when members of her family and a host of close friends honored her and Mr. York at their golden wedding anniversary when 110 fold fellowshipped together with them at their home.
Her kind affectionate and gentle disposition won for her the loving name of Aunt Manda as she was commonly called by almost everyone and especially those who were in any way related to her.
