Beetley, James Hamilton

James Hamilton Beetley, son of James and Anna Beetley, was born in Middleboro, Indiana, June 19, 1854, and died at the Reid hospital in Richmond, Indiana, February 10th, 1928, aged 73 years, 7 months and 21 days. He was one of two children, and was the last of his father's family to pass the portals of death. He was married to Anna Rhyn December 9th 1876. Four sons were the result of this union, namely: Cecil E. of Lynn, Indiana; Floy C. of Spartansburg, Indiana; Howe O., of Richmond, Indiana, and David Q., of Fountain City, Indiana. After his marriage they located in Hollansburg, and with the exception of five years spent in Troy and Greenville, he spent the whole of his married life in Hollansburg.

Brother Beetley was one of the best known men in Harrison and Liberty townships, and was most highly honored and respected for his honest and upright life. He was an ideal husband and father, and a loyal friend, ever ready to lend a helping hand in time of need and distress. He united with the Christian church in Hollansburg many years ago, and died in the hope of a better world. He had also been a devoted member of the K. of P. lodge at Hollansburg for 35 years.

He leaves a faithful wife, four sons, seven grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends to mourn his departure.

The funeral services were held from the Christian church in Hollansburg Monday Feb. 13, at 10 am. Sermon on the occasion by Rev. C.W. Heoffer of Palestine, assisted by Rev. M.C. Wisely of Ansonia. The body was buried in the cemetery at Hollansburg.
