Brandon, Ermel

SOURCE: Unknown
Little Ermel Brandon, deceased, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Brandon, was born March 7, 1902, died Jan. 14, 1906, aged 3 years, 10 months and 7 days.
Baby Ermel was a happy, gleeful, laughing little sprite - a beautiful picture of health and babyhood. Always such sparkling eyes with fond, interesting impressions, that made one glad to look upon Baby Ermel. Her sweet face friendly smiles, busy, prattling tongue will be sadly missed by all the families of village and community, as well as by the much bereaved parents and relatives. Dear Ermel's sickness did not seem dangerous at first, until the last immediate night, when the fatal hour came, surprising and alarming us to profound sadness. We were not yet capable of commanding ourselves to be reconciled at the sudden sad departure of Little Dortha. Then, can it be that sister-Baby Ermel is lifeless, silent and cold, through the ever unwelcome guest of Monster Death? Only through the providence of divine Hand and Power of Heaven could the parents and relatives endure these trying hours of separation from such loved, treasured and precious "Gifts" as Dear Little Dortha and Sweet Baby Ermel.
The Church and village extend fervent love and sympathy to the parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Brandon, also to grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Brandon, grandpa Brown inclusive of all the near relatives.
Funeral services were held in the Osgood Christian Church, sermon by Rev.G. W. Arnold. The remains were laid to rest in the Yorkshire Cemetery by F. M. Houser.
CARD OF THANKS
The family are in humble gratitude to all the friends of vicinity who so kindly and willingly offered their much worthy service in sickness, death and last tributes of love for our Darling Babies-Dortha and Ermel.
Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Brandon. In life's promising dawn of youth and strife,
The angel of Death took Dear Dortha from this life,
And, in but a few more settings of the sun,
The master called and took another one.
Baby Ermel, we had thought to keep you
Yet, alas, ere a dozen mornings dew
You were gone too, with the angels-away-
To join Little Dortha in Heaven's joyous lay.
Life is sweet, but bitter is the sting of Death
Yet, "we'll be glorified of much tribulation," the Lord saith
So yet a little long shall we patiently await,
And strive to meet our loved ones before it is too late.
The Home Circle and loving ties are touch
With sadness and sorrow, we think, too much;
But with the Glad Hosts of Heaven through wisdom above
We hope with Our Angels to share His bountiful love,
It makes Papa and Mamma grieve so bad
And leaves Brother Noah so lone and sad,
To have no sister Dortha in school by his side
Gone! Darling Ermel-Our baby Pride.
Our two Angel Daughters departed at night;
With frail humanity we understood not aright,
But, if God kindly watches o'er us, we pray,
We promise to meet Dortha and Ermel some glad day.
Papa, Mama and two Brothers are left in the home-
Two little sisters are becoming-Come
Our family is broken, but the promise is given,
We can be an unbroken family in Heaven.
From the hearts' deep well-we cry and sigh-
Angel Dortha, the saddest of loving words is Good Bye.
Baby Ermel, we know with you, too, it is well,
But we can hardly, scarcely say-"Farewell"
Mrs. W. Z. Miller
