JOHN BIDDLE
John Biddle, one of the old time and highly respected citizens of this locality, died at his home in Palestine last Saturday morning at 3 o’clock, the cause of his death being a lung affliction due to a protracted siege of cold and lagrippa, and on account of his advanced age, he was able to withstand the attack.
At the time of his death he was within one month of his 81st birthday, and, until the past couple of years, had been active and a man interested in many ways in the community’s doings.
Deceased was born a short distance north of New Madison and lived he entire life here and at Palestine. He was a veteran of the civil war, having served three and one half years in the Union Army.
He leaves to mourn his death a wife, two daughters; Mrs. L.B. Hyde of New Madison, and Mrs A.C. Lowdenslager of Union City and one son, Orlando Biddle of Greenville. He also leaves one sister, Mrs. Kate. Williamson of Union City.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the
Universalist Church at Palestine, Rev. Hoeffer officiating. Burial was made at the cemetary near Palestine.
