SOURCE: This was titled “In Memorium” and may have been the draft of his obituary, which should have been published on 28-30 July, 1989, in the Springfield Daily News. The author may have been the presiding minister of his funeral, Rev. Frank J. Wright.
KEITH T. RICE was one of a family of seven children of Wilbur Clarence and Esta (Smith) Rice. He was born in Verona, Ohio, on February 5, 1908 and departed the earthly part of his life in St. John’s Center in Springfield on July 23, 1989, at the age of 81 years.
He was united in marriage to Vonda Marie Biddle on January 31, 1930, in Dayton, Ohio. To this union was born one son, Leland, who survives his father.
For 42 years, Mr. Rice was employed by the Ohio Bell Company, and was the longest in seniority at Ohio Bell at that time.
He was a member of the First United Church of Christ in Springfield; and of Anthony Lodge, number 455 F.&A.M.
Survivors are his wife, Vonda, of Oakwood Village Home; one son, Leland D. of Cadiz, Spain; three brothers, Kenneth of Phillipsburg, Ohio, Russell and Galen, both of Lewisburg, Ohio; two sisters, Geraldine Cullers of Greenville, Ohio, and Eileen Ostaszweski, of Dayton, Ohio; two granddaughters; one great-granddaughter ; and several nieces and nephews. One sister, Corrine Hall, preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held in the Austin Richards and Raff Memorial Home on July 27, 1989, with the Rev. Frank J. Wright officiating. Burial was in the Palestine Cemetary, Darke County, Ohio.
NOTE: It says that Vonda was at Oakwood Village Home at the time of his death, but they both went into St. John’s Center on the same day, he being registered on the floor above her.
