OBITUARY
Samuel Beane 1921

Samuel Beane, son of Samuel and Sarah Beane was born near West Alexandria, Preble county, Ohio June 16th, 1843 and died August 31st 1921, aged 78 years, 2 months and 15 days. He was the ninth of a family of fourteen children, nine boys and five girls.

November 10th, 1867, he was united in marriage with Martha Riley of Montgomery county, Ohio. The following March, 1868, he bought and moved to the present home of their son Orville Beane, in Franklin township, Darke county, Ohio where they lived until September 1902, when they moved to the village of Painter Creek. They lived there until Grandma died Jan 2, 1917. The following spring he moved back on the farm with his son.

Not many years after they came to Darke county he united with the Union Chapel Christian Church at the Beech. February 7th, 1909, he was ordained as deacon, and remained a faithful member of the church until death. He has always been active with his influence and finances in all all Christian charitable and mroeal activities of the community - some years ago giving a substantial gift to the McReynolds memorial endowment fund for Defiance College.

He leaves to mourn his departure three children, Orville Beane, Mrs Joseph Laurence and Mrs. C. E. Trick; one brother, John Beane, of Richmond, Ind., two sisters, Mrs. Ashworth and Mrs. Don Allen of West Alexandria; sixteen grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren, together with many other relatives and a host of friends and neighbors.

The funeral services were held from the Painter Creek Church Saturday, September 3rd, at 10 a.m. Sermon by Rev. C. W. Hoeffer, of Palestine, assisted by Rev. Wm Royer. The body was buried in the cemetery at Abbottsville.

PIONEER OF FRANKLIN TP. PASSES AWAY (1921)
Samuel Beane, Aged 78 Years, Is Dead

Samuel Beane, pioneer resident of Franklin Township, died at 8:30 Wednesday morning of heart trouble at the home of his son, Orval Beane, one mile west of Painter Creek. His age was 78 years, 2 months and 15 days.

Mr. Beane was born in Preble county, but moved to Painter Creek over fifty-one years ago, where he has made his residence since. His wife preceded him in death, having passed away on Jan 2, 1917.

Two sisters, Mrs. Mary Donellen and Mrs. Lucy Ashworth, of West Alexander, one brother, John Beane, of Richmond, Ind. One son, Orval Beane, two daughters, Mrs. Jo Lawrence, of Laura Ohio and Mrs. Ed Trick of Greenville; sixteen grandchildren and eight grandchildren, survive.

Funeral services at Painter Creek church Saturday morning at two o'clock. Interment in Abbotsville cemetery. Rev. Hoeffer will officiate.

HEART TROUBLE CAUSE OF DEATH (1921)

An attack of heart trouble caused the sudden death of Samuel Beane, pioneer of Franklin township yesterday morning. Mr Beane died at the home of his son, Orval Beane, one mile west of Painter Creek the age of 78 years, 2 months and 15 days. He was born in Preble county and had lived in the neighborhood of Painter Creek for fifty-one years. The deceased is survived by one son - Orval Beane; two daughters, Mrs. Jo Lawrence, of Laura, RFD. and Mrs Ed Frick of Greenville, sixteen grand children; eighteen great grand children; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Dorallen and Mrs. Lucy Ashworth of West Alexander; and one brother, John Beane of Richmond. His wife preceded him in death June 2, 1917.

The funeral services will be held at the Painter Creek Church Saturday morning at ten o'clock; interment in the Abbotsville Cemetery.
