Last Will of Late Benjamin Gilbert is Filed

The will of the late Benjamin F. Gilbert dated July 21, 1921, was filed Wednesday in the Probate Court. After provision for payment of just debts, clause second reads, "I give and bequeath to my daughter, Leona L. Dohme, all my property real and personal or mixed, to be hers absolutely for services rendered and to be rendered in the future.

Third, if there is anything left after the payment of the funeral debts and expenses, my said daughter may if she can, pay to any other daughters, Ida Armstrong, Lucy Bell Libecap, Mary J. Selby and Bessie Hawes, children by my first wife, and Mrs. Margaret Winters, a daughter by my second wife, each the sum of five dollars, or a total of twenty-five dollars, The last will and testament was witnessed by Mrs. Addie Katzenberger and Leo H. Katzenberger. "

ANOTHER AGED CIVIL WAT VET PASSES ONWARD

Benjamin F. Gilbert, 86, dies near Weimer's Mill Sunday

Benjamin F. Gilbert, aged Civil War Veteran and well known resident of Darke County died Sunday morning at 3:30 o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Leona Dohme near Weimer's Mill. Mr. Gilbert was aged 86 years, 1 month and 16 days at the time of his death, which resulted from old age and a complication of diseases.

The diseased man served actively as a Union soldier during the Civil War and marched "with Sherman to the sea." He was a member of Jobes Post G.A.R.

The aged man was preceded in death by his wife and is survived by six daughters, Mrs Leona Dohme at whose home he died, Mrs. J.H. Winters of Greenville, Ida Armstrong of Brock, Mrs. Belle Libecap of Dallas, Texas, Mrs. Mary Selby of Dayton and Mrs. Bessie Hawes of Dayton.

Funeral Services for the deceased will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Christian Chruch in Brock. The services were changed after the first announcement that the funeral would be held Tuesday.

Rev. Fraser of Hollansburg will officiate at the service. Burial will be in Brock Cemetery.

GREENVILLE DEMOCRAT, April 30, 1924 (Wednesday)

Benjamin F. Gilbert, aged Civil War Veteran, died Sunday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Leona Dohme near Weimer's Mill, aged 86 years, 1 month and 16 days.

Survived by 6 daughters, Mrs. J.H. Winters of Greenville, Ida Armstrong of Brock, Mrs. Belle Libecap of Dallas, Texas, Mrs. Mary Selby of Dayton and Mrs. Bessie Hawes of Dayton; burial Brock cemetery.
