Armstrong, Jobe

Posted By: Mickey Raymer
Date: 20 November 2001

SOURCE: Unknown

Jobe Armstrong, son of Samuel and Rebecca Armstrong, was born in York Twp., Darke Co., Ohio, March 28th 1852, and departed this life at his home, near his birthplace, December 5th, 1920; aged 68 years, 8 months and 7 days. He was the first of ten children, five of whom preceded him in death. The four surviving him are James, Enos, and Newberry Armstrong and Mrs. Clara Holoway.

He was united in marriage to Diadama Drinkwater in 1873. To this union were born two children: Charles D. and Della (Landis), who both are living.

He was deprived of his wife by death in 1879.

He was again united in marriage March 15, 1884 to Ida May Gilbert.

This union was blessed with seven boys; Jerry, Walter, Forrest, Russell, Lester, Benjamin and Robert. Forest died in infancy; the others survive.

He leaves to mourn, a wife, eight children, and a host of other relatives and friends.

He has been a member of the Brock Christian church for about 28 years, and has always done what he thought to be his duty, as inspired by the Divine Guidance of his Maker.

He has been a devoted husband and father to his family, unselfish and always ready to sacrifice himself to comfort others.

Like all others, he has made some errors along the pathway of life; but his devotional spirit has made him a servant of humanity as well as of the Divine.

During his last hours with us, he said, "I am going home," and as he went his face lit up with a smile, which is a blessed assurance to us.

May we prepare to meet him in the great beyond. We cannot understand why our dear one was taken from us, yet his ways are not our ways, Not our will, but Thine be done. O God.

NOTE: This my paternal Grandfather's father.
