John Henning
John Henning, son of Jacob and Barbara Henning, was born in Montgomery County, Ohio on May 9th. 1828 and departed this life at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Harry Shockney, Union City, Indiana, June 8th. 1912, aged 84 years and 28 days. He having spent about 78 years of his life in Darke County, Ohio.
He was baptized in infancy by Rev. Hinkle and united with the Lutheran Church in his early boyhood days.
His wife and three children have preceded him to that better home. He leaves one son, three daughters, five grandchildren, two brothers and a host of relatives and friends.
We bid him a tearful goodby with the hope of greeting him with a glad good morning somewhere sometime.
Funeral services Monday, June 10th. 1912, at 2 P.M. by Rev. W.K. Albright at the Dininger Lutheran Church. Interment in the Lutheran Cemetery.

John Henning, a member of the Darke County Infirmary Board during the early stages of progressing the erection of the present home for the indigent, his term of office continuing 6 years, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Henry Shockney, in Union City, Indiana, June 8, 1912, aged 84 yrs. and 28 days.
In his younger days he was baptized by the Rev. Hinkle and united with the Lutheran Church.
He was a hard working staunch Democrat and prosperous in his early life but reverses overtook him. During the few weeks preceding his death, he went to the infirmary thinking the comforts there would better enable him to battle with the inroad of old age. He was there only two weeks and need not have been there so far as necessity concerned.
His wife preceded him to the grave 8 years. One son, 3 daughters, and two brothers survived him.
Funeral services were held from Dininger Lutheran Church, west of Greenville, June 10, at 2 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. W.K. Albright. Interment near Greenville, Ohio.
NOTE: Obituary doesn't state where he was buried, but both he and his wife, Elizabeth are buried at Dininger Cemetery.
