Henning, Elizabeth (Finfrock)

Mrs. Elizabeth (Finfrock) Henning

Mrs. Elizabeth Henning, wife of John Henning, was born in Miami Co., Ohio July seventeenth, 1837 and departed this life, April third, 1905, aged 67 years, 8 months and 16 days.

She was the mother of seven children, three of whom have preceded her to that better home.

She united with the German Reform church, near her home, during her early married life. While it was not convenient for her to attend the church of her choice, yet she was faithful to her belief. In her death the whole community, and especially her relatives, have suffered an irreparable loss.

She was a true wife and a loving mother, but we who knew her best can safely say that our loss is her eternal gain.

We bid her a tearful goodnight, with the hope of greeting her with a glad "good morning" somewhere, sometime.

She leaves a husband, one son, three daughters, five grandchildren, five brothers, and five sisters, and a host of friends to honor and cherish her memory.

The way is long to the Valley of Rest,
Down the dim, uncertain years;
But we'll reach the Valley when God thinks best,
And enter its shadow, sweet and blest,
Where is never a reign of tears!

We'll forget the gloom of the weary way,
Where the thorns grew red along,
With answers sweet to the prayers we pray,
The spirit of peace will speak that day,
And the sigh will be the song.

And deep in the beautiful Valley of Rest
We shall pass from the storm-swept sod;
With tired hands folded above the breast,
We shall say to the silence how God knew best,
And dream in the light of God.

NOTE: Obituary doesn't state where she was buried, but both she and her husband, John are buried in the Dininger Cemetery.
