ED JEFFERIS DEAD;
RETIRED CAR DEALEREdward F. (Ed) Jefferis, 81, retired Greenville auto dealer and former president of the city board of education, died at 4 a.m. today at his residence, 428 East Third street, following an extended illness.
Mr. Jefferis, who was active in the automotive field here for approximately 40 years, was one of the founders of the old Jefferis Auto company, one of the first Ford car agencies in this section of Ohio. He was in charge of the company’s tractor sales for most of his career.
He had resided in Greenville since 1918, moving here from nearby Palestine where he was born and reared.
Mr. Jefferis was a member of the Greenville city board of education from 1928 to 1939 and served as president of the board for ten years.
He had been a member of the Greenville Masonic lodge for the last 53 years.
Survivors are four daughters, Mrs. Homer Huston and Mrs. Glenn J. Shrader, both of Greenville, Mrs. Frank Folkerth, Park Hills, Ky., and Mrs. Charles Littell Jr., Dayton, and 10 grandchildren.
His wife, Laura, died in 1926.
Services will be held Wednesday at two pm at the McNight and Parker funeral home here with Rev. Calvin Rodeheifer officiating. Burial will be in Palestine cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Tuesday.
