Evelyn L. Nixon
Evelyn L. Nixon, 76, of West Ward Street, Versailles, died Thursday, Jan. 16, 2003 on the Rhapsody of the Seas in the Caribbean Sea.
She was born Oct. 18, 1926 in Darke County, daughter of the late Milo and Gladys (Petersime) Collins. [actually spelled Peterseim - Gladys was the grandaugher of George (1836-1901, s/o John Henry and Martha Seigmunt) and Sarah Beam (Peterseim) Collins.]
She was a restaurant cook.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Nixon, in 1975.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Patricia Nixon of Mansfield, James W. and Sharon Nixon of Celina, Michael A. Nixon of Gallino, LA., and David L. Nixon, with whom she resided: daughter and son-in-law, Susan K. and Douglas Agee of Dayton; daughter-in-law, Sharon Nixon of Versailles; brother and sister-in-law, Edgar and Phyllis Collins of Versailles; sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Wayne Pittsenbarger of Versailles; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Versailles United Methodist Church, 104 W. Wood St., Versailles, with Pastor Kelly Moody officiating. Burial will be in Beamsville Cemetery, Beamsville.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles.
Memorial contributions may be made to Versailles Life squad or Shriner's Hospital.
