Clarence E. "Pitsy" Pitsenbarger, 90, of 516 N. Center St., Versailles, died Saturday [November 8, 1986] afternoon at his residence. He had been seriously ill since September.
Mr. Pitsenbarger was a native of Brock, in Darke County, born Aug. 19, 1896 to the late Jacob and Bessie (Thompson) Pitsenbarger.
He lived in Versailles for more than 80 years and was a self-employed cabinet maker and a former Independent Insurance agent. He was a member of the United Church of Christ, Versailles, a veteran of World War I, servingwith the Army Company H, France, a past commander of the American Legion, Versailles, a charter member of the Blue Lodge, Versailles for more than 60 years, a member of the Versailles Rotary and the Masonic Lodge.
Mr. Pitsenbarger was a member of the Stillwater Golf Course and was a former professional baseball player.
He is survived by his wife, Esther (Smoot), whom he married on July 17, 1927; two daughters, Mrs. Donald (Virginia) Agne, of Kalamazoo, Mich., and Mrs. Richard (Gail) Brandewie, of Piqua; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the United Church of Christ, Versailles, with the Rev. Kim Ketterheinrich officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery.
Friends may call today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bailey-Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles, and one hour prior to the service Tuesday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the United Church of Christ or the Versailles Life Squad. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
