ANOTHER WAR VETERAN DIED LAST NIGHT
Wilkins Reck, a Veteran of the Civil War Passes Away at his home in this city After a Long Illness. Funeral Sunday at his late Home.Wilkins Reck, 85, a lifelong citizen of Darke County, and a veteran of the Civil War, died at his home 746 martin Street, Thursday night at 9 o'clock, his death coming after an illness of four months from a complications of diseases.
The deceased man was born and grew to manhood in Darke County. He was the son of Mr. & mrs. Michael Reck, old pioneers and most of his life was spent on a farm, from which he retired several years ago.
Mr. Reck was a sergeant in Company C, 152nd. O.V.I. and was mustered out of service at Camp Denision on September 5, 1864. He was a member of the Jobes Post, G.A.R. Greenville.
The passing of this veteran is mourned by three sons, H.S. Reck, Greenville, H.G. Reck, Pennant, Saskatchewan, canada and A.A. Reck, portland, Oregon and two daughters, Lova E. Reck and Cecile H. Reck of Los Angeles, Calif.
He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Edward martin, Greenville, And Mrs. Frank Vanlue, of Gettysburg, and one brother, Charlie Reck also of Gettysburg.
Funeral service Sunday afternoon at 2:30 at the home. Rev. Etter in charge. Burial in Gettysburg Cemetery.
