MARTIN BARR PASSES TO HIS FINAL REWARD THIS MORNINGWas One of Darke County's Oldest and Most Highly Respected Citizens
Another old friend has passed to the great beyond. This morning at 10:30 o'clock, the spirit of Martin Barr passed to its Maker and another soul gone to its reward.
Fifty-two years ago we first met Mr. Barr, when we first attended school in the old Bickel school house just west of his old home farm, three miles southeast of our city. That friendship then formed has continued to this day. When we took charge of the Times he was on our rolls and has ever been a patron and well-wisher of this paper. Many is the time he has called in the office and by his word of cheer helped us over the stony places. Being of a genial disposition his whole life was built on the line of the Golden Rule.
Martin Barr was 93 years and 4 months of age, came to this section from Pennsylvania in 1856 and has since made it his home. He was the father of eight children, all living.
