William Jobes Succumbs To Tuberculosis
City Auditor Clarence R. Jobes Receives Sad News of Son’s Death Early This Morning
Word was received here this morning of the sad death of William C. (Billy) Jobes only son of City Auditor Clarence R. Jobes, in Alburquerque, New Mexico, from tuberculosis. The young man was only twenty years of age and had suffered from the fatal malady for almost two years. He, in the care of his mother and sister, Olive had been in New Mexico since March, 1922 fighting a battle against disease. His condition had shown signs of improvement and only last week made a turn for the worse which finally resulted in his death at 7:40 o’clock this morning Rocky Mountain Time.
The young man was graduated from the Greenville High School in the class of 1921 and had entered Ohio State University, his illness forcing him to leave his studies in March 1922. He was always prominent in school activities and had a large circle of friends among the young people of Greenville. He was member of the Phi Sigma Chi fraternity and a member of the High School G. Club.
The deceased is survived by his father and mother, and two sisters, Mrs. Olive Lewis and Mrs. Fostena Skillman.
The body of the deceased will be brought to Greenville, leaving Alburquerque, N. Mexico, tomorrow evening. No funeral arrangements have yet been made.
