DEATH REMOVES
William H. Pittsenbarger
Prominent Resident of Versailles.

William H. Pittsenbarger, for 34 years a worthy resident of Versailles and favorably known all over the surrounding country by reason of the extensive stock buying business in which he and his sons engaged, and whose illness was noted in these columns for the last two weeks, fell asleep in Christ at two o'clock in the morning Saturday, June 20, 1914. He had suffered from a complication of diseases, but pleurisy was the immediate cause of his death.

Mr. Pittsenbarger was born August 28, 1848, near Versailles, and when called from the active stage in this life was aged 65 years, 9 months and 22 days.

He was married October 3, 1872, to Miss Rachel York, and subsequently located in Versailles where they have resided for more than a third of a century. The union in marriage was blessed with five sons and five daughters, one son born on August 24, 1875, having died in infancy, leaving to mourn his passing away, his faithful wife, four sons, 2 of whom are married, and five daughters, all married, and sixteen grandchildren, two brothers, and five sisters, namely: Allen Pittsenbarger of Lima, Ohio, James Pittsen- barger of Versailles, Mrs. Elizabeth Metzcar of New Weston, Ohio, Mrs. Margaret Colston of Montezuma, Ohio, Mrs. Martha Finkbone of Yorkshire, Ohio, Mrs. Amanda York, of Muncie, Ind. and Mrs. Frances Burns of Walnut Grove.

The surviving children are Mrs. Abner Jones of Muncie, Ind., S. E. Pittsenbarger of Versailles, Mrs. E. L. Barnes of Kokomo, Ind., Mrs. Fred Copeland of Sidney, Ohio. Carey and Harry H. Pittsenbarger of Versailles, Mrs. J. W. Marshall of Union City, Ind., Mrs. Earl England and Harland Pittsenbarger of Versailles.

Mr. Pittsenbarger was a member of the Christian church where 27 years ago he accepted Christ as his Savior, and from which he was buried, the funeral services from the church being conducted by his pastor, Rev. Harry F. Smith; interment in the family plot in Green Lawn cemetery by Leonard Marker, under the auspices of the Versailles Lodge 286, I.O.O.F.

Former Well Known Resident and Stock Buyer at Versailles Has Been Filed for Probate--Deceased, Who Was Quite Well-to- Do, Amply Provides for Widow Who Survives Him.

The last will and testament of the late William Pittsenbarger, for many years a stock buyer and a former well known resident of Wayne township and Versailles, and who was quite well-to-do, has been filed for probate.

The will is very brief. It provides that his wife, Rachael Pittsenbarger, in lieu of her allowance for support the first year after his death, is to receive her proportionate share of his personal property and the residue of his estate is to be hers absolutely. The will also provides for the payment of his just debts, funeral expenses, etc. The instrument was executed on the 12th of June 1914, and witnessed by Forrest Murphy and A. Calderwood.
