Fahnestock, Joseph Milton

Joseph M. Fahnestock, 76, of Troy, Ohio died Tuesday evening, September 27, 1988 at Grandview Hospital, Dayton, Ohio. Born in Union City, Indiana August 2, 1912, he was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Troy and the Staunton Grange in Troy. He was very active in the Threshers Association, AARP and the Troy Literary Council.
He was a 1930 graduate of the Union City West Side High School. He was an accomplished writer and a retired Freelance Photo Journalist. He wrote short historical articles and personal interviews with residents of Union City and Greenville, Ohio which accompanied by his photographs were published in the Dayton Daily News. He also published two small booklets entitled, Dateline:Stateline filled with rememberances of Union City and its people. A similar book was published about Greenville, Ohio.
Mr. Fahnestock is survived by his wife Patricia DeHayes Fahnestock, a son Nicholas von Fahnestock of Trotwood, Ohio, one brother Stanley Allen Fahnestock of Kettering, Ohio, and four grandchildren. Services will be held Friday, 10 am at the Baird Funeral Home, 555 N. Market St., Troy with burial to be held in Union City Cemetery, Union City, Indiana. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3 to 5 pm and 6 to 8 pm on Thursday with a Staunton Grange Memorial Service to be held at 7 pm at the funeral home.
