Born June 18, 1818, in Germany, came to U.S. in 1842, Married Mary Eve Kurtz, also from Germany, in 1852, came to Darke Co. in 1858, lived east of Hollansburg the rest of his life, making and repairing shoes. Died Feb. 4, 1900, buried at the Hollansburg cemetery. He was survived by his wife and 5 sons, Adam, Henry, John, Reason, and George, one daughter, Sarah.
