Appenzeller Death Occurs At Hospital
Widow Of Road Contractor
Ill Several Months
Mrs. Matilda Rhoades Appenzeller, 83, widow of the late Christian Appenzeller, Greenville road contractor and a lifelong resident of Darke county, died at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday at Wayne Hospital where she was admitted two weeks ago. She had been in failing health since last July.
A daughter of the late Abraham and Mary Pitsenbarger Rhoades, she was born on a farm three miles west of Greenville and attended the Oak Grove School. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran church, Greenville, and church’s Ladies’ Aid Society.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Pearl Moore, Celina, and Mrs. Earl Reinheimer, Greenville; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Stephen and Curt Rhoades, both of Greenville R. R. and one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Pitsenberger, this city.
The body has been removed to the Turpen-McKnight funeral home where friends may call after seven o’clock this evening. Services will be held there at 3:30 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. C. C. Wessel officiating. Burial will be in Greenville cemetery.
