Metzger

Dear Wally,

I received an email message from you dated 24 Mar 2000. At the same time I received another email message giving me the complete genealogy of the Metzger family from the time they entered this country. My hard disk failed and although I had a hard copy of both your information and the genealogy I misplaced the genealogy record and would like very much to get it back. The person who sent it made the comment that my Metzger's had never spelled it Metzcar and she couldn't understand where it got started or why. It sounded like somebody who knew the family well. With this information is it possible to replace the lost genealogy? Could it have been the Jack Carpenter you noted in your reply? As to the spelling I noted from some deeds registered at the courthouse that the register of deeds had spelled the name three different ways on one document and added to the fact that the census taker had encountered the new spelling before reaching the Metzger's its possible he just used the new spelling without asking (Metzcar). Thanks for any help. Alan Fritz
