Annie Oakley

Posted By: Carolyn Haney
Date: 8 September 2001

Hi!

My question is: Was Annie Oakley actually born in Darke County, Ohio or was she born in Terre Haute, Indiana as I previously led to believe? I used to stay with my Great Aunt and Uncle in the home in which Annie was raised, on Rt. 127 close to North Star, Ohio. There is still a stone Monument there at the site where the house stood before it was moved to Terre Haute to be put in a museum. I understood the reason for moving it was to take it to the location where she was born.

Can you please clear this up for me? -- -- -- Thank you!
