Howell & Craig families in 1830's

I am searching for proof of my hunch regarding the marriage of a John Howell to a Margarett Craig in the early 1830's. John Howell is listed in Fairfield, OH in 1840 but has died by 1850 where Margarett Howel age 42 is listed as a widow with the following children: Mary C., Morgan A., Elias T, John L., Eliza J., James W., and Joseph Howel. (Joseph is 2 years old so I am guessing that John Howell died between 1847 and 1850.) Margaret moved to IL after 1850, where four of her seven children can be found living with James and Mary Craig on the 1860 census. (Mary C. has married Samuel Imbody in OH... and moved to IL as well, but I do not know where Elias T. Howell is...) I believe that James Craig born abt 1808 is a brother to Margarett who was born abt 1809, a hunch that is supported by the fact that the Howell and Craig families are listed as neighbors on the 1830 Darke County Census.

Any and all help would certainly be appreciated as I live in NC.
