Shirley -

According to Darke Co Marriages as read/published by the local Society, an "Emily A Baty" married "S. D. Teaford" 16 Aug 1884. Marriage was performed by J H Noggle, JP. (This is on p 287 of the volume published in 1985.) This is a little late for the Emily you are looking for :(

Could either of these marriages be the one you want?

1- An "Emma Bata" married "George Midlam" 17 Sep 1863, performed by Arthur M Oliver, JP. (p 190 of published volume)

2- A "Mary E Batty" married "Matthias Judy" 6 Feb 1862, performed by J Stuck, MG (p 148 of published volume)

The published marriages of Mercer Co. only go to 1860. I believe some later marriages were published in their newsletter, but I don't have those issues. In those published to 1860, I could find no Baty or Batty female marriages.

If you suspect either of the 1860's marriages above might be the one you want, contact me privately and I'll try to locate the census record for those couples in 1870 in Darke Co.
