In Response To: Jacob BURNS b1816 Ohio-Indiana-Wisconsin (Lois Woody)

Dear Lois,
I am also looking for BURNS families who settled in DARKE County, Ohio very early in the 1800's - ca 1815.
My study of the Darke Co., OH website's show both a BARNABAS BURNS in Greenville Twp. and a HENRY BURNS in Richland Twp. of Darke Co., OH in 1820.
My BURNS ancestor was EUNICE BURNS born ca 1808 in NEW YORK state, according to 1850 Randolph Co., Indiana census record.
EUNICE BURNS married SAMUEL MCGUIRE on Febuary 21, 1829 in DARKE CO.,OH by a Judson Jaqua, a Justice of the Peace. Then, by 1830
Samuel and Eunice (Burns) McGuire have moved to Randolph Co., IN
with Samuel's McGuire family and are on the 1830 census there.

I think we both may benifit by researching both Barnabas Burns and the oldest Henry Burns families of Darke Co., to see if either of them came from New York. However, there may be a chance these two men may have stopped over in Pennsylvania for a time. I never take any census record information as gospel.

My early Burns family research claimed my Eunice Burns had either a father or a brother named Jacob Burns and the only Jacob Burns I have found as a possible brother was the Jacob Burns - b: July 27, 1794 d: Sept 13, 1881 - who is buried at the Roselawn cemetery at Lewisberg, Harrison Twp., Preble Co., OH.

I would appreciate any help with Barnabas Burns or Henry Burns of Dark Co., OH in 1820.
Thank you,
Judy Mills Boie - Minnesota
