I still have not made any connections to the Family of Johannes Nicholas Harter (of the New York Palatines) and Johannes Georg Harter. The New York group will hold a 100th reunion in Upstate New York, this August.
Several NY Palatines moved to Tulpehocken in Pennsylvania starting in about 1723 (not far from present day Reading, Pa.)
Bob Harter may have found a link to a new Eva (who was not a Mikesell).
Here's a link to the possible set of New York Cousins.
Lorentz Harter Web Site
Welcome to the Harters' web page that is dedicated to the
descendants of Lorentz Harter (1698-1792) and Abelona Schuttin
who "left southern Germany on account of religious persecutions and,
joining a large company of Palatines, arrived in America in 1712.
Lorentz and Abelona Herther each became patentees in Burnetsfield
granted April 30, 1725" (Mohawk Valley Harters and Allied Families,
1981).Andrew P. Harter, Andrew J. Harter, and his brother, Adam Harter,
settled in the Steuben area approximately 1820. The first Harter
reunion was held in August of 1905 with Edward D. Harter elected
president and his wife, Elvia, elected as secretary. The Harter
reunion was held every year from then on except three years during
WWII; the 100th anniversary wil be in August of 2008.
