Ung(r)er, Britt (Butt) & Who was Joe Fox?

In Response To: Re: Do you mean Unger / Britt? (Melinda Zibrida)

I am on a different hunt ("Project Xerxes," unpublished). I did not run across your lines, until yesterday. The Palatine region of Germany is of interest to me due to Swiss and French migrations after the 30 years war. The migrations took place because of religious persecution and the massive devastation of the people who once lived in what we consider South Western Germany, today.

The area was also used long before by Celts for Salt routes (the Danube) and mining (Nassau-Siegen).

It looks like the UNGRER/UNGER names are interchangeable (you may find SEVERAL other spellings going back in time). The Ungrer terms on the Internet are very rare both in the US and the UK.

I do not have new information on Daniel's children, but have some bits of information that may help your search.

One web site seems to cover most of the issues with the dates that you raised but with a major question:

http://www.marcgriffin.com/genweb/fam05580.htm

The question? Who is Joe Fox (m. Mary Britt on 21 MAR 1821)?:

http://www.marcgriffin.com/genweb/fam05598.htm

Joe's presence does not fit with your facts, or the facts in the other Unger/Ungrer pages below. There is no additional family history on Joe on that site other than an estimated birth.

Other sites provide more detail. For example, Michael Ungrer Jr. seems to be the same as Michael Unger in:

http://www.gencircles.com/users/marcgriffin/1/data/15257.html

For example: the family of Michael Unger (Jr.?) are listed as
Maria (Wife) Children:

John B. Unger
Daniel Unger
Elizabeth "Betsey" Unger
Mary Unger
Susannah Unger
Catherine Unger
Hannah Unger

Now let's go back to http://www.gencircles.com/users/marcgriffin/1/data/15257.html

where we see Catherine Unger, her husband and children:

Daniel Ponsler (Husband)

Mary Ponsler

Again there is a match, except the greater detail and different spellings. I stopped the chain a little further below, but if you go to the site there are more links past the "Baker line."

The additional information in the brackets was given by Robert C. Kennedy, about 1968, supplemented by further information by Anita Short, as indicated, and published by her in the Gateway to the West. Mr. Kennedy said the land had belonged to Solomon Butt.

HOUKE/HAWK

Hawk family
The Hawks came to the US, possibly from England, shortly after the Revolutionary War and settled in Franklin and Buffalo townships, Armstrong County, PA, later moving to Rossiter, PA. The Rev. Martin John, Sr. came to the US as a Brunwick mercenary in 1783 and defected shortly afterward. His wife Mary Bausser came with her family from the lower Patine region of Switzerland.
